About ME

01A Few Words About Me

Welcome sweet friends! I’m Gina, and I am so thrilled that you have found my blog! I started Trends Lifestyles blog on a whim. I’m new to this whole blogging thing so bare with me as we roll this out. I know that I need an outlet to get all this goodness that is up in my head out to others that might be able to relate.

I truly believe that a confident woman is a beautiful woman and I aspire to help other woman feel more confident as they go about their days. On the blog this may manifest with posts about trendy fashion, makeup tutorials with step by step instructions, straight up mom life, creative arts and crafts for the DIY, and even a splash of some business. Hey why not?

ABOUT GINA:

untitled-1If you hang around this blog for any amount of time, you will discover that I love makeup. Some might think I have too much but I say impossible! However, I do have many interests so I thought we would kick off with me telling you 10 things you probably didn’t know about me:

1 MY BLOG NAME

This came about because 3 years ago I took over a business called Trends Jewelry and Accessories. I love the Trends because we have now morphed into so much more than just jewelry and accessories! Got to keep up with the Trends of Life!

2 DARREN AND I HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR OVER 10 YEARS

2We met through friends and while every marriage has ebbs and flows we have stood by each other’s side. We blended our families in 2008. He is my biggest cheerleader and is usually behind the scenes a lot. If you’re on my Facebook, you can even catch me doing his makeup here! He lost a bet, but he certainly paid up! Be prepared to laugh a lot with us. We truly enjoy this life and live it up to the fullest we possibly can!

3 NEVER IN A MILLON YEARS THOUGHT I WOULD BE ABLE TO BE HOME WITH MY BABIES

Ha! I say babies because to me they always will be. All boys ages 17, 14 and 2.5  and a grown step daughter that lives on her own in Seattle, WA!  As of 2 years ago I have been able to be at home and let me tell you… It is not sitting home watching shows and eating bon bons. As most stay at home moms will tell you! WHOA! It is work, but I wouldn’t change it for anything! Absolutely the best of both worlds. I do have one crazy online job that I love but since I love it I wouldn’t call it a job; you will hear about it soon enough if you haven’t already glanced around and figured it out!3

4 DENTAL ASSISTING IS WHAT I WENT TO SCHOOL FOR

After High school, I had all these visions of going to a 4-year college, getting into marketing etc. etc. Life happens and at 19 years old I found out I would be expecting my first baby…He was the best oops of my life. I went to Dental Assisting school and worked at a dental office for 13 years. Both my parents are in the dental field so I guess it made sense. I have always loved working with others! But hey, now I get to do what I love and network and market from my computer/phone with all these social media networks! <3

5 DARREN AND I HAVE AN ANGEL BABY

4I will blog about this story at some point, it’s on my list. Our youngest is a twin. Her name is Izabella and she is in heaven watching over us! She had Turner Syndrome and High drops, we found out a little over half way through our pregnancy. Not a day goes by that I don’t wonder or think about her. I know she is in the best place though! I have this picture of her tiny hand.

 Today is a Gift

6 IM ME

I’m not a picky eater the opposite… I love to eat and have always struggled with weight because of it. I must have my coffee every morning, however I am pickier about that, must be nonfat and preferably a Pumpkin Spice Latte (all year). I use way too many smiley faces and exclamation points I’m sure J I love to exercise but mostly so I can eat what I want when I want to. I am always trying to lose that last 10 pounds. I LOVE the Holidays probably more than most. Tristan (my youngest) gets Christmas carols sung to him before bed even in July (I know that may be over board). I like to set up the Christmas tree right before Thanksgiving so it can get decorated on Black Friday. I always love a deal. Lastly when I am laser focused watch out because I’m not stopping till it’s done.

7 IVE BEEN A BLONDE AND BRUNETTE

5I have a hard time deciding and I seem to always change with the seasons. I think it’s fun to spice things up a bit with the trends too J6

8 I HAVE FINISHED A MARATHON

I did it because I wanted to get in shape and I trained and raised the money via Team in Training. I met an amazing bunch of woman. I walked that whole thing but came in well before some runners, so that counts, right?!

9 WE HAVE 5 DOGS7

Apparently when you are not allowed to have animals growing up you make up for it as an adult! When you marry a man that loves dogs just as much as you…. Well that’s how we ended up with 5 plus Princess our cat. Seems like we always have dog chaos plus kids’ chaos in our house. But we love it most days. J Our 2.5 year old (Tristan) didn’t start walking till about 14ish months and we are convinced it’s because he thought he was a part of their pack. I can’t get them all in one picture but I am sure they will make an appearance from time to time.

10 SPEAKING OF HOUSE- WE LIVE IN WINE COUNTRY SOUTHWEST OF PORTLAND New House

We live in a small town out much further than I ever thought we would live but I love it. We moved packed up and moved further south because you could get more house for your buck. This made it possible for me to be home with the kiddos and enjoy these years we can’t get back. While Darren’s commute is painful he doesn’t complain much. But just because you see a lot of pretty pictures on the blog doesn’t mean that we don’t have our days (or sometimes our weeks) when things are just total and utter chaos. And I’m learning to be okay with that in this season of our lives.

WHAT NOW?

So now that you know more about me than you ever wanted to know, where do we go from here? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for!
